Jesus said you cannot be a Christian unless you love Him more than your own life!

You cannot come with Me(Jesus) unless you love Me more than you love your own life. You cannot be My disciple unless you carry your own cross and come with Me.”

Yes, Jesus really did say that “you cannot be a disciple/Christian unless you love Him more than you love your own life! 

And Luke 14:26 is probably the least preached verse in the whole Bible.

Today, let me ask you this very important question, do you love Jesus more than you love your own life? Probably not!
But Jesus demands this, He demands that you love Him more than you love your own life.  If not, then you cannot become a Christian! (Luke 14:25-27)

If you have repented of all your sins BEFORE you got baptized in water, if you knew your were a hell-deserving sinner BEFORE you got baptized in water, then it should be natural for you to love Jesus more than you love your own life. 

After all, you used to live a sinful life, your life were full of sin and void of meaning and eternal purpose, so of course it makes sense for you to surrender your sinful, earthly, and mortal life to Jesus in exchange for His eternal and immortal life.  Of course it make sense for you to love Jesus more than you love your own life.  

Sadly, most churchgoers today do not love Jesus more than they love their own lives.  If this is your case, then this could mean that you are a fake Christian.

25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
