  • Luke 24:49  “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
  • Acts 2:17-19 KJV  “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy."
  • Acts 2:33 NIV “Exalted to the right hand of God, He(Jesus) has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear."

The truth about revival is that:

-God dwelling on earth with men (2 Chr 6:18, John 14:16-23) = revival.

maxresdefault (2) -2 Chr 6:18

-Also, when the Holy Spirit is poured out as promised by the Father, revival happens (Luke 24:49, Acts 2:33, 39).

-On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came down and was poured out, thus revival happened. (Acts 2:17-18, Acts 2:33, 38-39)

-On Pentecost, revival happened, not just the Baptism of the Holy Spirit or tongues.

-In the New Testament, the coming down of the Holy Spirit equals to the glory of God descending in the Old Testament.

-In the New Testament, when God’s glory or the Holy Spirit comes down, we call that revival.

-When the Holy spirit is outpoured, He will reprove or convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. This will result in sinners willing to truly repent and believe in the pure gospel of Jesus Christ.

“A revived church is the only hope for a dying world.” -Andrew Murray

“Without revival, sinners will grow harder and harder despite more preaching. Your children and your friends will remain unsaved if there are no revivals to truly convert them.” -Charles Finney

“I don’t believe 20 people in all of America with its 300 million people have ever been in a revival. A revival that stops the traffic; a revival where the lights never go out for months– weeks and weeks and weeks in the sanctuary; a revival where the prayer meeting never ends!” -Leonard Ravenhill

Revival is simply God’s glory and Spirit coming and staying with us.” -Johnson and Pearl

“If Christians do not pray down revival, then practically everyone from the president to the paperboy will remain unrepentant and on their way to hell for their wicked sins against God."  -Johnson and Pearl

“Without revival, sinners will grow harder and harder despite more preaching.” -Rev. Charles Finney, from a sermon called “When to expect revival"

“Revival is a renewed conviction of sin and repentance, followed by an intense desire to live in obedience to God.  It is giving up one’s will to God in deep humility.”  -Charles Finney

“True revival must result in at least 8,000 souls truly saved within weeks, just as on the first Pentecost.  True revival must have a strong and obvious moral impact on society, and spread from city to city.”    -Johnson and Pearl

“The prayers of a few sanctified men will result in the salvation of the majority, just as after 10 days in the Upper Room, the 12 through prayer, brought Pentecostal revival(aka Holy Spirit outpouring), and the salvation of at least 8,000 sinners(Acts 1:14, Acts 2:41, Acts 4:1).”   -Johnson and Pearl

“True revival will bring lots of sinners and sinning Christians to their knees in repentance.”   -Johnson and Pearl

“In times of evangelism(or a crusade), the evangelist seeks the sinner,
in times of revival the sinner comes chasing after the Lord." -J. Edwin Orr

“In a crusade, the evangelist seeks sinners to come to a 3 day crusade.  In a revival, God “personally draws sinners everyday" into the church."  -Johnson and Pearl

“In a crusade, the church lead sinners to an unbiblical “sinner’s prayer" that produce nothing but fake Christians.  In a revival, the Spirit of God leads sinners into true repentance and true salvation."  -Johnson and Pearl

“There is world of difference between a crusade and a true revival. A crusade is not a revival. Generally, crusades do not catch or influence the community. The community remains the same and the people go past the churches to hell. But in revival the community suddenly becomes aware or conscious of the movings of God. Beginning among His own people. So that in a matter of hours, not days, but churches become crowded, and you find within hours scores of men and women crying to God for mercy before they go near a church.” -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971), leader, but not starter of the Hebrides Revival

“The difference between successful evangelism and revival is this: In evangelism the twos, the threes, the tens, the twenties, and possibly the hundreds make confessions of Jesus Christ, and at the end of the year you are thankful that half of them are standing.

But the community remains untouched. The public houses are crowded, the dancing ballrooms are packed. The theatre and picture houses are patronized by hundreds. There is no change in the community! But in revival, when God the Holy Ghost comes, when the winds of heaven blow, suddenly the community becomes God-conscious. A God-realization takes hold of young, middle-aged, and old. So that in the case of the Hebrides revival 75% percent of those saved one night were saved before they came near a meeting!"   -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971), leader, but not starter of the Hebrides Revival

“In Revival the Spirit of God will move sinners to the house of God, and within hours lots of people will confess their sins and cry out to God for mercy before or near a church. This is what happened in all past revivals in America and in Wales.”  -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971), leader, but not starter of the Hebrides Revival

“In speaking about the revival in the Hebrides, I would like to make it perfectly clear what I understand to be real revival. When I speak of revival, I am not thinking of high-pressure evangelism. I am not thinking of crusades or of special efforts convened and organized by people. That is not in my mind at all. Revival is far beyond evangelism at its highest level. It is a moving of God whereby the whole community suddenly becomes God-conscious before anyone says a word about God.”  -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971)

“Of the hundreds who found Jesus Christ at that time, 75% were gloriously saved saved before they came near a meeting…the power of God was moving, the Spirit of God was in operation, and the fear of God gripping the souls of men" -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971), leader, but not starter of the Hebrides Revival

Revival happens when an awareness of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit gripped a whole community so much that work stopped. God was everywhere and because of this awareness of God, churches become crowded.  In Revival, time does not exist. Pubs, dance halls, and drinking places close down, and men who used to drink and party are now in prayer meetings. At 3 am in the morning, people were weeping and repenting in the streets. The Holy Spirit had come to the Hebridean Islands. 75% of the converts were “saved before thy came near a church meeting!”  -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971)

Psalm 139:7  NIV  “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?"

In the Hebrides Revival people were being drawn by an irresistible power that they had not known before, to get right with God wherever they were.  In the peat stacks, by the roads and in the fields, people were found weeping, repenting, and puttting their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ."  -Duncan Campbell (1898-1971)

“There is no holding back if you are to fully yield yourself to God.” –“author of The Intercessors of the Hebrides Revival of 1949, the Cost of Revival.”

“According to statistics from major US denominations, among those that make a “decision” in crusades, usually 80 to 99% of the people were false Christians that did not truly repent and been born again.  They usually don’t stay in the church, even if they do, they are just false Christians interested in blessings and using God.  Why is that?  Because, most crusades don’t preach the truths of repentance and taking up one’s cross to follow Jesus.  They only use a non-biblical “30 second sinner’s prayer” to quickly get sinners to make a decision.  The results are:  these false Christians think and act just like non-Christians.  They lie, have premarital sex, abortions, covet money, lust, love the world, take God’s name in vain, worship Rock and Roll idols, smoke, drink, play lottery, etc.”     -Johnson and Pearl

“When the Spirit of God is moving, the most exciting place in the world is the church of the living God.  When is Spirit of God is not moving, the most boring place is the also the church of the living God.”  -Leonard Ravenhill

“If the presence of God is in the church, the church will draw the world in. If the presence of God is not in the church, the world will draw the church out." -Charles Finney

“Revival history clearly reveals that the revivals of the past 300 years were started by repentance, surrender, holiness, constant prayers, and asking for Pentecost/revival/or the Holy Spirit outpouring.”   -Johnson and Pearl

“Revival is Pentecost continued." -eyewitnesses of the Welsh Revival.

“Instead of looking back to Pentecost, let us always be expecting it to come." -Maria B. Woothworth-Etter (1844-1924)

“If we do not experience revival, the morality and spirituality in any given city will remain unchanged and dead.  Churches can have programs, activities, conferences, fake healing crusades, false prophet meetings, theologies, seminars, seminaries, BBQs, and Christmas parties.  But the devil and the principalities have bars, dances, concerts, porn, sports, entertainment, theaters, casinos, evolution taught in schools, worldly TV, idols, false teachers, false prophets, false gospels, and more parties than churches do.  The devil continues to attract more people with his TV, movies, bars, ballgames, and rock concerts than the church does thru worldly programs and activities.  In most cities of the world, over 98% of the city remain unrepentant and unsaved, the church is still the laughing stock of the devil and his demons, and the church is just a social club for false Christians.  So, don’t we know that this is a kind of self-deception when a church brags about its denominational “success” and tiny accomplishments?"  -Johnson and Pearl

“Without repentance and prayer that bring revival, all theology is dead theology, all activities are man-made, and all church meetings are meetings with men instead of meetings with God Himself!”

“There are two great reasons why we don’t have revival.  One, we’re content to live without it. Two, it’s too costly. We don’t want God to disrupt the status quo. ” -Leonard Ravenhill

“Our conviction is that God’s revival may be had when we will and where we will.  Charles Finney believed that any body of Christian people, provided they wholeheartedly and unreservedly carried out God’s will, could have revival." -Jonathan Goforth
