You must repent before you can be truly saved!  Part 1      

-You must repent before you can be justified by faith!
-You must fully repent before you can baptized in water
-You must fully repent before you can become a true Christian.
-Is repentance necessary before salvation?

Jesus said: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)

Dear friends, today, through faith, boldness and the help of the Spirit of God, I am going to expose the lies of a false gospel that many worldly churches are preaching.

This false gospel intentionally leaves out the necessity of repentance before salvation”.  This false gospel fails to mention sin, repentance, and carrying the cross to follow the Lord Jesus.  Rather, this false gospel only tells people to profess a simple belief in Jesus, and then they could be saved and go to heaven”.

Now, this might sound like a shortcut to salvation, but in fact, it is a rat poison that damns sinners to hell.

The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, and the wages of sin is death” (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)

According to Vine’s Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, New Testament page 576, the word “sin” came from the Greek word “hamartia”.  The definition of sin means “missing the mark”. So, the next question that has to be asked is:  sin is missing what mark or what standard?  First John 3:4 says, “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” (1 John 3:4)

*In the New Testament, Christians have to keep the moral law of God (John 14:15; Matthew 5:17).  All the Old Testament ceremonial and civil laws are not part of the New Testament.

So, the Bible clearly tells us that “sin is the transgression of the (moral) law”, mainly the Ten Commandments.

Rev. Finis Dake was a Bible commentator that had a supernatural gift (from the Holy Spirit) of memorizing the whole Bible.

He said, “It is admitted by all denominations that the ceremonial laws are not part of the new covenant.  The big question is whether the whole Ten Commandments are a part of the new covenant or not.  By an honest investigation anyone can soon find nine of the Ten Commandments in the new covenant, but the 4th commandment, which refers to the Sabbath, is nowhere to be found.”  Source: God’s Plan for Man, by Finis Dake, page 581.

Furthermore, in the Bible, scriptures talking about “sin” appeared at least 1,252 times.  This proves that mankind has a serious sin problem.  Because every man and woman has sinned, that’s why Jesus went on the cross.  Think about it, how could a holy, righteous, and just God allow unrepentant liars, thieves, idol worshippers, fornicators, adulterers, rapists, blasphemers and murderers into heaven?  Of course not!  If so, God would be an unholy, unrighteousness, corrupt and unjust God.

Don’t forget, the Bible said, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; KJV)

If you were 20 years old, you have probably lied about 20,000 times!  

According to a 2008 article in Taiwan’s Yahoo , a person lies about an average of 88,000 times in his or her lifetime.  If you were 40 years old, you probably have lied about 40,000 times already! The truth is, according to the Bible, everyone on earth has at least lied one time.  To God, deception, big lies, small lies, white lies, false witness, and exaggerations are all considered lies.

Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception.  May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue.” (Psalm 12:2-3; NIV)

Right now, if you are honest, you would admit that you have lied at least thousands of times.  In addition, you must have stolen things in your lifetime.  In God’s eyes, even if you have stolen just once, you are considered a thief.  And you probably have looked at many women or men and lusted after them in your lifetime.

How many times have you lusted in your life? 

Jesus said, “whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.  And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” (Matthew 5:27-30; KJV)

Moreover, if you had hated someone in your life, you are considered a murderer in heart (1 John 3:15).  If you had worshipped an idol, a false god like Buddha or some Taoism false gods, a rock star idol, or a pop music idol in your life, then you have transgressed the 2nd Commandment of the Ten Commandments.

Of course, you must have transgressed the 1st Commandment, which is to “Put God first in your life and love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Exodus 20:3; Matthew 22:37)  And you also must have transgressed the 10th Commandment, which forbade you from coveting money, your neighbor’s house, wife, or anything that is your neighbor’s. (Exodus 20:17)

Of course, you must have transgressed the 1st Commandment, which is to “Put God first in your life and love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Exodus 20:3; Matthew 22:37)

And you also must have transgressed the 10th Commandment, which forbade you from coveting money, your neighbor’s house, wife, or anything that is your neighbor’s. (Exodus 20:17)

Right now, unless you are self-righteous person living in denial and impenitence, you must admit that you have transgressed nearly all of God’s Ten Commandments.

By God’s moral law, which is the Ten Commandments, your sins are indeed exposed as “exceeding sinful” (Romans 7:13).

You are definitely a really awful sinner in God’s eyes, you are definitely not a good person, and you definitely deserve God’s wrath in hell!

So, if you had NOT repented from the 9 of the 10 sins listed in the Ten Commandments before your conversion or water baptism, then your sins are still not forgiven and you were never truly saved!

In other words, if you had NOT repented of all your sins before water baptism, then you are still an unsaved sinner!

That means you are not yet a “born again” child of God, and you are not yet a true Christian!

For Jesus Christ Himself said that a person has to repent before his/her sins can be forgiven. Repentance is absolutely necessary before the forgiveness of sins!

Jesus said, “and that repentance [necessary] for forgiveness of sins would be preached in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:47 Amplified Bible)

The following are more scriptures proving that everyone has to first repent, and then be justified by faith in becoming a Christian.

You need to understand, when Jesus began preaching, His first message was: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)

In fact, Jesus’ last message to the church was also about repentance: “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” (Revelation 3:19)

Jesus also emphatically said: “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

After Jesus rose from the dead, He told the disciple “that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:47)

Please understand this truth and logic:  People have no way of knowing his or her need to repent unless preachers preach about repentance and the pure gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ!

In fact, not only did Jesus preached repentance, all the Old Testament true prophets, John the Baptist, Peter, Twelve Apostles, and Paul all preached repentance.

John the Baptist said: “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.” (Matthew 3:7-8)

The Apostle Peter said: “unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)

One must repent before he can be truly saved

The Bible says, one must repent before he can be truly saved.  In other words, you must repent before you can be justified by faith!  One must first fully repent before he can be baptized in water and become a true Christian.  One must first fully repent and take up his cross daily to follow Jesus BEFORE he can be truly saved and become a born-again Christian!

There are 35 NT scriptures that require repentance before salvation!

(Matt 3:2; Matt 3:8; Matt 3:11, Matt 4:17; Matt 9:13; Matt 11:20; Matt 11:21; Matt 12:41; Mark 1:4; Mark 1:15; Mark 2:17; Mark 6:12; Luke 3:3; Luke 3:8; Luke 5:32, Luke 9:23; Luke 9:23;; Luke 10:13; Luke 11:32; Luke 13:3; Luke 13:5; Luke 15:7; Luke 16:30; Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; Acts 5:31; Acts 11:18; Acts 13:24; Acts 17:30; Acts 19:4; Acts 20:21; Acts 26:20; Rom 2:4; Rom 2:5; 2 Peter 3:9)

These 35 New Testament scriptures prove that: everyone has to repent before he/she can be truly saved.  You have to repent before you can be justified by faith. The Bible never said that “you don’t need to repent, just believe in God and Jesus, and you can be saved.”

Take a closer look at this verse. 

Devils, or demons, believe in God and Jesus, they believe God exists and they tremble, but that doesn’t make them Christians! 

Just believing in God alone does NOT turn you into a true Christian!  

The Bible clearly says, one must REPENT and believe in the (pure) gospel of Jesus Christ BEFORE he can be truly saved.

Let us pray for you now. 

“Dear heavenly Father,

It is our heart’s prayer that those who read this preaching be willing to completely and truly repent of all of their sins.  I pray that they stop finding ridiculous excuses to wallow in sin.  Sin is not honorable.  The wages of sin is death and eternal punishment in hell.  Sin deserves hell, because it is a disgusting rebellion and mutiny against God.  It is selfish, evil, degrading, embarrassing, rebellious, and morally wrong.

Don’t let them waste their lives on sin, vanity, and self-worship anymore!  May they truly and fully repent, and become truly born again and live for the Lord Jesus the rest of their lives.  May them begin to love Jesus with all their hearts and minds, and may their lives begin to glorify Jesus to their maximum ability.  I pray that they desire to know God more than food and water.  That they seek not their own selfish interests, and seek first to enter God’s Kingdom and righteousness.

I ask that the Holy Spirit’s presence and fire come to touch them right now where they are at, for the Spirit of God is more real than matter, time, and space.  Holy Spirit, be outpoured on those that just heard the pure and true gospel of Jesus Christ.  For the gospel IS the power of God unto repentance and salvation.  Lord, let Your goodness, kindness, and holiness lead them to true repentance.  Spirit of God, come and reprove, reprimand, and convict them of sin and self righteousness, and put them in fear of Your future judgement of all sinners who repent not.  Save these sinners from sin and hell  today, Lord.  May Jesus get all the glory He deserves in their lives.  May they live for Jesus and be on fire for God.  May You use them as vessels of revival before the Rapture, Lord! 

May the Lamb that was slain receive the rewards of His sufferings in their lives!
