哥林多後書 12:9-10
9 主對我說：「我的恩典夠你用的，因為我的能力是在人的軟弱上顯得完全。」所以，我更喜歡誇自己的軟弱，好叫基督的能力覆庇我。
10 我為基督的緣故，就以軟弱、凌辱、急難、逼迫、困苦為可喜樂的，因我什麼時候軟弱，什麼時候就剛強了。

孟子：故天將降大任於是人也，必先苦其心志，勞其筋骨，餓其體膚，空乏其身，行拂亂其所為，所以動心忍性，曾益其所不能。
翻譯：上天將要降落重大責任在這樣的人身上，一定要先使他的內心痛苦，使他的筋骨勞累，使他經受饑餓，以致肌膚消瘦，使他受貧困之苦，使他做的事顛倒錯亂，總不如意，通過那些來使他的內心警覺，使他的性格堅定，增加他不具備的才能。
詩篇 126:5 流淚撒種的，必歡呼收割。
